Steinbrecher – a history of success spanning over 70 years

Discover new paths, take advantage of opportunities and make connections: This is the principle that guides day-to-day work at our Steinbrecher construction company based in Wittmund. This created a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial foresight. These are virtues that have become tradition at the family-run company since it was founded in 1945.

Learning from experiences in order to find new paths was something that was essential for founder Martin Steinbrecher to ensure that his new company could survive. The freight forwarding agent, who was born in Gdańsk, made the most of his expertise in wood conservation to ensure that consumers in Northern and Western Germany had a constant supply of energy. The young company was initially involved in the the maintenance and servicing of electricity poles. In the early founding years, the main challenges faced by the company were the mobilisation of employees and the exchange of information between the company headquarters and the site locations.

Steady growth since 1945

The field of work performed by Martin Steinbrecher and his employees was vastly different to the modern requirements faced by the construction company. The diversification of tasks was a logical progression from the original work activities. As the company grew, the range of fields it worked in became more diverse: The current business areas that Steinbrecher is involved in include supply technology, waste management, transportation technology, plant engineering and communication technology.

The company found a way to combine two things that are often very difficult to combine: keeping the tried-and-tested practices of the past while opening up new opportunities. Today, at the beginning of the 21st century, it is more important than ever to react to the rapid developments of the modern world by drawing on the experiences you have gained in the past. Steinbrecher currently employs 350 workers at five locations in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. The Steinbrecher team tackles projects with high levels of expertise and great commitment, to ensure that they are implemented successfully.
